Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo The Chief ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Ginty! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ginty shoots in for a takedown but The Chief shows good takedown defense. Ginty shoots in looking for a takedown but The Chief manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ginty's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A punch combination from The Chief misses. Ginty throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by The Chief . The Chief throws a big shot that misses. Ginty looks for a takedown but The Chief sprawls well. Ricardo The Chief has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Ginty. The Chief slaps away a takedown attempt from Ginty, before circling back to the center of the mat. The Chief misses with a two punch combination.
The Chief will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. The Chief swats away the attempt to clinch by Ginty. The Chief misses the shot to the body. The Chief swings for the body but Ginty moves out of range.
The Chief throws a shot to the body.
Ginty gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The Chief wants to pass the guard but Ginty is keeping the position. The Chief throws a big elbow that misses. The Chief might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Chief postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The Chief trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ginty avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as The Chief accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The Chief postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The Chief works over Ginty with some ground and pound from guard. The Chief working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. That's two minutes gone in the round. The Chief is pushing down on Ginty's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ginty is fighting to maintain full guard but The Chief has managed to sneak the leg through. Ginty wants to get back to full guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The Chief throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The Chief not landing any meaningful shots this time. The Chief passes to full mount! The Chief breaks from Ginty's wrist control and lands an elbow. Ginty looks gassed! The Chief jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ginty is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ginty and The Chief has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The Chief scores with a couple of short elbows. The Chief has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The Chief working the ground and pound from side control. The Chief is working Ginty over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ginty is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on The Chief 's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Ginty is defending against the submission attempts here by The Chief .
Ginty moves into full guard.
Ginty looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The Chief tries to free his leg and advance position but Ginty is retaining full guard. Ginty pulls The Chief in to control the position. The Chief throwing strikes but missing. Ginty preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The Chief drops back looking for a leg! Ginty is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ginty manages to kick The Chief off! The Chief jumps back into Ginty's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ginty wants to sweep here but The Chief controlling him for the moment. The Chief stands and throws Ginty's legs to the side, diving into side control. The Chief scoring with punches and elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ginty is looking to regain half guard here but The Chief keeps moving and retains side control. The Chief lands some shots froms side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The Chief working the ground and pound from side control. Ginty is trying to improve his position. The Chief in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ricardo The Chief dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
The Chief misses with a hook. Ginty ducked under it nicely. The Chief tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ginty sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten The Chief somewhat. Ginty uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from The Chief . The Chief throws a lazy uppercut
and Ginty counters with a lovely shot to the body. The Chief just misses with a punch to the body.
The Chief cracks Ginty with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Ginty is rocked! Ginty throws a wild body kick that The Chief sees coming a mile off. Ginty is still on wobbly legs! Can The Chief finish him? The Chief lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Ginty falls backwards - clearly groggy! The Chief dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ricardo The Chief ! After the fight, Ricardo The Chief was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
