PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tino Mic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rambo Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rambo Kawajiri told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tino Mic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rambo Kawajiri!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kawajiri gets a double leg takedown into Mic's guard.

Mic looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kawajiri not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kawajiri is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Mic can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kawajiri controls the pace.
Mic is looking to stand up but Kawajiri isn't so interested in that idea.

Mic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kawajiri engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Kawajiri loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kawajiri pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mic is keeping the position for now.
Kawajiri is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Kawajiri seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kawajiri is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rambo Kawajiri hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Mic closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kawajiri quickly recovers to half guard.
Mic is keen to just control but Kawajiri is a slippery customer.
Mic wants to pass to mount but Kawajiri is defending the position.
Kawajiri makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kawajiri.
Mic is breathing heavily.

Mic has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kawajiri pulls Mic in close to prevent any damage.

Mic got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kawajiri has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mic has managed to get both his arms back between Kawajiri's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kawajiri manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Kawajiri's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rambo Kawajiri dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kawajiri swats away the attempt to clinch by Mic.

Mic shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mic tries to control but Kawajiri wriggling away.
Kawajiri is looking to improve his position but Mic isn't that keen on the idea.
Kawajiri wants to control but Mic is having none of it.
Kawajiri is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mic is staying active.
Kawajiri is trying to escape the mount.

Kawajiri tries to hold on but Mic pushes him away.
Kawajiri bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Mic looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kawajiri passes into side control.
Check out the look on Kawajiri's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Kawajiri grinds an elbow into Mic's temple.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mic seems a little lost for a moment, as Kawajiri dominates the positioning.

Kawajiri tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kawajiri has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kawajiri takes a little break here. Mic wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mic can't do much from the bottom here.
Mic misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Kawajiri remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Mic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kawajiri on the ground.
Kawajiri connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mic some visible discomfort.

Kawajiri content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Rambo Kawajiri has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mic tries to improve position but can't.

Rambo Kawajiri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Mic tries to clinch there but Kawajiri circles away.
Kawajiri sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kawajiri shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mic as he jumps to the side.

Kawajiri looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tino Mic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rambo Kawajiri.

Mic controls Kawajiri momentarily but Kawajiri frees himself.
Mic is looking to stand up but Kawajiri isn't so interested in that idea.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kawajiri slips nicely into half guard.
Mic wants to get back to his feet.
Mic on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Kawajiri slips a nice elbow through Mic's hands, connecting with Mic's forehead.
Kawajiri is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Kawajiri is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mic sees it coming and defends easily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kawajiri works his way into full mount!
Kawajiri takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mic working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kawajiri controlling the pace for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rambo Kawajiri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kawajiri winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
