The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanaka closes the distance looking to clinch
and Burnett counters with a left to the body.
Burnett lands a nice hook to Tanaka's body. Tanaka takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Burnett sizes up Tanaka with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Tanaka throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Burnett.
Burnett takes a swing at Tanaka's ribcage but misses.
Good leg kick by Tanaka there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Burnett cracks Tanaka with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Burnett uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Tanaka rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burnett moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
