Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dilbert Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dilbert Swanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wes Ward! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swanson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ward back to the cage. Swanson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Ward takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. A punch combination from Ward misses. Swanson jabs Ward to the body, keeping him at a distance. Ward looks gassed! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Swanson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Swanson rushes Ward and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Swanson lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Swanson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ward is defending well. Ward drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Swanson gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Swanson lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ward. Swanson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ward uses from the top position. Swanson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Swanson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Swanson has control of Ward's left arm, preventing Ward from doing any damage. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Swanson is looking to stand up but Ward isn't so interested in that idea. Ward throws a big elbow that misses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ward throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Swanson. Dilbert Swanson is winning the standup battle so far. Ward takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ward throws a series of punches but Swanson avoids them all with ease. Wes Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Swanson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ward manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Swanson is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Ward takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Swanson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ward at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Swanson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ward doesn't seem phased though. Swanson lands with a nice body punch. Ward shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Swanson darts in and clinches Ward up against the cage. Swanson stalling the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Swanson is working for a guillotine from mount but Ward frees his head quite easily.

And that's the end of the fight! Dilbert Swanson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Swanson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
