Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Batsbak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richard Batsbak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Batsbak scores a takedown into full mount!
Batsbak avoids the attempt from Penn to control.
Batsbak wants to stand but Penn is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Penn keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Penn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Penn is in all sorts of trouble here.

Batsbak get's back to his feet.
Batsbak tries to close the distance and clinch up but Penn swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Richard Batsbak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Batsbak manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Batsbak wants to clinch up but Penn keeps it at a distance.

Batsbak clinches up against the ropes.
Penn tries to stall but Batsbak uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Penn avoiding damage as Batsbak throws knees to the body.
Penn tries to break free but Batsbak pushes him back against the ropes.

Batsbak wants the takedown. Penn is fighting it off but Batsbak persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Penn's guard against the ropes.
Penn looking for a sweep. Not yet Penn, not yet.
Batsbak is fighting to break Penn's control of his arms but Penn is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Penn is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Penn is looking for a triangle but Batsbak pushes his legs off easily.
Penn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Batsbak is one step ahead there.

Batsbak wants to stand but Penn is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Batsbak stands up from guard. Let's bang!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Penn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Penn wants to control from the top but Batsbak keeps moving.

Batsbak wants to stand but Penn is controlling the position.
Penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Batsbak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by BJ Penn.
Penn throws a wild body kick that Batsbak sees coming a mile off.

Batsbak feints and as Penn raises his hands in defense, Batsbak changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Penn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Batsbak is one step ahead there.

Batsbak drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Penn manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Batsbak has Penn in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Batsbak keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully.
Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Batsbak swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Batsbak utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Penn wants to control from the top but Batsbak keeps moving.
Penn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Batsbak is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Penn postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A close round but BJ Penn will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Batsbak has Penn up against the ropes in a clinch.
Batsbak throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Batsbak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Batsbak gets caught flat footed, as Penn shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Batsbak doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Penn passes Batsbak's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Penn wants to pass the guard but Batsbak is defending well.
Batsbak wants to get back to his feet.

Penn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Batsbak doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Penn.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penn looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Penn is working for a kimura but Batsbak is defending it quite comfortably.

Penn stops Batsbak from getting back to his feet.

Penn seems to be looking for submissions.

Penn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Batsbak is just riding it out for now. Penn eventually gives up the hold.
Batsbak is looking to escape.

Batsbak won't allow Penn to pass to mount.
Penn moves into full mount! Batsbak won't be happy about that!
Penn fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Batsbak is trying to stand.

Penn working for a guillotine from mount but Batsbak is in no mood to give up.
Batsbak is controlling an arm, preventing Penn from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Penn landing strikes, looking to finish!
Penn trying to control but Batsbak is having none of it.

Batsbak wants to try and get back to his feet.

Penn with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Penn lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Penn working for a guillotine from mount but Batsbak is in no mood to give up.
Penn wants to control the pace but Batsbak is squirming around nicely.
Batsbak wants to get back to his feet.
Penn lands a big elbow.

Penn working for a submission but Batsbak is keeping him at bay.
Batsbak is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Penn is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Batsbak can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Batsbak really wants to buck Penn off and get back to his feet.
Penn looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Batsbak manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Penn passes the guard and advances to mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Batsbak is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Penn tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

BJ Penn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Penn has control of Batsbak's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Batsbak regains control of the situation pretty easily.
