The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hillis is looking to clinch.
Hillis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but James paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hillis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from James.

James clinches up against the cage.
Hillis content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Hillis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

James has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hillis after a bit of a struggle.

Hillis has James pressed against the cage, preventing James from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Hillis gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from James.
With the fighters up against the cage, Hillis throws an elbow but misses.
James goes for a takedown attempt but Hillis pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hillis forces James back against the cage and clinches.
Hillis pushes off an throws an elbow but James leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Hillis just leaning against James, taking a breather.

James is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
James looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Hillis throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Hillis is struggling to control the position.

Hillis is pressed up against the cage. James has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hillis down to the mat. Hillis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

James wants to break the clinch but can't.
James takes a knee to the side of the body.
Hillis is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
James blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hillis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James managing to block the knees to the body from Hillis.
James tries to pull guard but Hillis holds him up against the cage and eventually James drops back down to his feet.
James on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
James tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hillis utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hillis.
Hillis scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Hillis works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hillis landing some nice looking knees to the body.

James takes an elbow to the forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Hillis doesn't manage to clinch there - James circles away.
Hillis tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hillis fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches James on the side of the head.


That has opened up Liam James's cut even more.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hillis has closed the distance and engaged James in a clinch.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Hillis lands an elbow just above James 's eye.
Hillis creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Hillis lands a body shot in the clinch.
Hillis stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
James blocks an elbow strike.
James is breathing heavily.
Hillis taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Hillis lands on the inside with an uppercut.


Liam James's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Liam James's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Peyton Hillis!
