The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schulz cracks Steyer with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Steyer fails with a takedown attempt.

Schulz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Schulz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Schulz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Steyer is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Schulz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Steyer's back instead.

Schulz is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Steyer is defending well though. Schulz let's go of the attempt for now.

Schulz is looking for a choke. Steyer gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Steyer manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Steyer tries to free his leg and advance position but Schulz is retaining full guard.

Schulz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Schulz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steyer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Schulz is breathing heavily.

Schulz looking for a guillotine here but Steyer defends easily.
Steyer is pushing down on Schulz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Schulz is fighting to maintain full guard but Steyer has managed to sneak the leg through.
