Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rhys Nicol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Vernitskaya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Nicol might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to the game ft lil wayne - red nation. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Vernitskaya!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicol slips under a jab from Vernitskaya.
Vernitskaya tries to clinch up.
Vernitskaya is looking to clinch but Nicol is avoiding it.
Vernitskaya looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nicol could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vernitskaya drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nicol pulls his leg out and moves away.

Vernitskaya ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Vernitskaya no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Vernitskaya wants to get back to his feet but Nicol is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nicol stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vernitskaya swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vernitskaya tries to bum rush Nicol with a series of wild strikes but Nicol uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Vernitskaya scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Nicol misses with a two punch combination.
Nicol shoots in for a double leg but Vernitskaya sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Vernitskaya is looking to clinch.

Vernitskaya moves into the clinch.
Nicol tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Nicol misses with a hook to the ribs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vernitskaya breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vernitskaya lands a big head kick that sends Nicol tumbling to the mat! Vernitskaya takes a step backwards and waves Nicol back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Rhys Nicol has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nicol tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vernitskaya sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nicol somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well Vernitskaya has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
