The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Maylan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Maylan throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Mendes tumbling to the canvas!

Mendes is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maylan advances position into side control!
Oh Mendes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Maylan decides to stand back up. Maylan steps back and let's Mendes get back to his feet.
Mendes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Maylan ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Mendes's jaw. Mendes's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Maylan does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Arlan Maylan!
