PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Bayliss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dean Bayliss was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dean Bayliss!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bayliss blocks a head kick by Brown.
Bayliss shoots in but Brown avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bayliss fails to land with a series of punches.
Bayliss fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bayliss.
Michael Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Bayliss.
Brown darts in trying to clinch

and Bayliss counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bayliss wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position.
Bayliss scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Brown wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Bayliss manages to pass to side control.

Bayliss tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bayliss somewhat.

Brown manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Bayliss decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Brown, up you get!
Bayliss tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Brown leaves Bayliss with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Brown scores with a head kick. Bayliss tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Bayliss decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bayliss has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bayliss lands with a punch from half guard.
Bayliss drops an elbow to the side of Brown's head.
Bayliss passes to side control.
Bayliss is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Brown is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Bayliss is controlling him well.

Bayliss manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brown on his heels. He'll look to pass Brown's guard now, I'm sure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bayliss lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bayliss slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Bayliss decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Bayliss shoots in for a double leg but Brown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Brown throws a head kick that Bayliss semi-blocks.
Bayliss throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bayliss off to one side.
Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Bayliss feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bayliss tries to work over Brown's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Dean Bayliss showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Bayliss takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bayliss looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Brown throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Bayliss.

Bayliss is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Bayliss throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Brown darts in and clinches Bayliss up against the cage.

Brown decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Bayliss is trying to pull guard but Brown has him pressed against the cage.

Brown misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bayliss.

Bayliss prevents Brown from standing back up.

Brown makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Brown lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Bayliss misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Brown clinches.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brown looking to stall.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Brown throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Michael Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dean Bayliss is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Bayliss escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Brown showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bayliss has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
