Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sextus Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Carwin!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savage looks to land a combination but Carwin avoids it well.
Sextus Savage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Savage tries to clinch there but Carwin circles away.
Carwin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Savage looks to clinch
and Carwin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Savage tries to close the distance and clinch but Carwin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Savage tries to clinch up but Carwin circles away and keeps his distance.
Savage wants to clinch.

Carwin closes the distance and clinches.
Carwin throws a head punch that misses.

Savage lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Carwin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Carwin looks to land a left hand but Savage moved out of range nicely.

It looks like Sextus Savage has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Carwin throwing strikes from guard but Savage blocks nicely.

Savage is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Carwin is surviving well by controlling Savage's body position as best he can.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Savage is trying to push Carwin away but Carwin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Carwin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Savage shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carwin defends it nicely.

Savage comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Carwin tries to clinch up but Savage circles away and keeps his distance.
Savage moves to clinch but Carwin breaks away
and Carwin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Carwin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Savage fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carwin, pushing him back against the cage.

Carwin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Savage fails with an attempt to clinch.
Savage tries to bum rush Carwin with a series of wild strikes but Carwin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Savage uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Savage looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carwin might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Carwin has Savage pressed against the cage, preventing Savage from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Savage jumps guard but Carwin stands there with Savage around his waist. Savage gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Carwin scores with a nice short uppercut.

Carwin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carwin drops Savage with a straight right hand, right on the button! Carwin follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
