The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hartlock tries to clinch but Vantrell moves away
and Vantrell counters with a shoot takedown. Hartlock fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Vantrell forces his way into half guard.
Hartlock gets back to full guard.
Vantrell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vantrell sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hartlock's guard.
Hartlock is looking to improve his position.
Vantrell wants to free his trapped foot but Hartlock is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Vantrell is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hartlock knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Vantrell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hartlock is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vantrell has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hartlock is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Vantrell yanks on the arm and Hartlock is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Vantrell.
