Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Cannon will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Cannon!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cannon wants to clinch up but Payne keeps it at a distance.

Payne gets a takedown into half guard.
Payne perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Daniel Payne wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Payne dives in and scores a takedown into Cannon's guard.
Payne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cannon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Payne stands up from Cannon's guard - Payne perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
That kick from Cannon tenderised Payne's leg. Payne is trying to keep his angry face on.
Payne avoids the head kick by Cannon.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Payne has clasped his hands together around Cannon's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Payne stands up.
Cannon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Payne forces Cannon back against the cage and clinches.
Payne tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Cannon tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Payne just stands there and leans against the cage.

Payne ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Payne no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Payne had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cannon defends it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Payne has control of Cannon's left arm, preventing Cannon from doing any damage.
Cannon is looking to work some ground and pound but Payne has wrist control.

Payne wants to sweep but no luck.
Payne has his hands on Cannon's head, controlling the position.
Payne keeping moving, preventing Cannon from controlling successfully.
Payne is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Daniel Payne just wasn't active enough.
Cannon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Daniel Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Cannon.
Cannon looks gassed!

Payne looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cannon!

Payne has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cannon is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Payne is looking to land body kicks.
Payne looks to land a combination but Cannon avoids it well.

Payne gets the takedown into side control.
Payne is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Payne is putting a hurting on Cannon here, landing some big shots from side control.

Payne stands up and beckons Cannon to his feet.
Cannon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Payne defends it nicely.
Cannon is breathing heavily.
Cannon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Payne feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Payne pushes down on Cannon's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Cannon wants to control but Payne is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Payne wants to pass the guard but Cannon is defending well.
Cannon on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Payne decides to return to a standing position.

Payne closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Cannon tries to score a body lock takedown but Payne shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Payne breaks from the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cannon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cannon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Payne as he avoids it easily.

Payne looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Payne shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cannon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Payne stands up from Cannon's guard - Payne perhaps looking for a knockout.

Payne shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Payne performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Payne is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cannon can do to turn this around?

Payne stands up out of the half guard.

Payne shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cannon's guard.

Payne stands and steps away. Cannon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Payne will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Cannon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Payne is fending him off so far but Cannon persists. Nope, Payne circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Payne uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Payne darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cannon wants to control but Payne is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Payne content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Cannon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Payne's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Daniel Payne just wasn't active enough.
Cannon shoots in looking for a takedown. Payne tries to sprawl out of it but Cannon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Payne manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Payne counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Payne is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cannon is just riding it out for now. Payne eventually gives up the hold.
Payne wants to pass to mount but Cannon is defending the position.

Payne is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Payne slows the pace down in half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Payne wants to pass the guard but Cannon is defending well.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Daniel Payne just wasn't active enough.
Payne displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cannon.

Payne moves into range and clinches up with Cannon.
Cannon is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Payne has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cannon clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Cannon defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Payne's arms.
Cannon takes a big shot to the side of the head.

Daniel Payne showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Payne has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
