Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Tyson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Beecher Meetz! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Meetz. Tyson has closed the distance and engaged Meetz in a clinch.
Meetz stalling in the clinch but Tyson improves position. Meetz has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Tyson after a bit of a struggle. A nice glancing elbow lands by Meetz. Tyson working hard to break the clinch. Tyson blocks an elbow strike from Meetz.
Tyson softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Meetz is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Tyson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. A short right from Tyson. Tyson lands with a left to the head. Meetz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tyson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Michael Tyson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Beecher Meetz. Tyson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. A shot in the inside from Tyson. Tyson is struggling to control the position. Meetz landing knees to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Meetz tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Tyson avoids it. Tyson working some nice short punches in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tyson tries to work over Meetz's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Tyson lands a left hand that snaps the head of Meetz backwards. Meetz misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Tyson.
Tyson lands a right hand.
Meetz is rocked! A nice left hand lands by Tyson.
Meetz is still on wobbly legs! Can Tyson finish him? Tyson lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Tyson lands with a short shot to the head. Tyson throws a big uppercut that drops Meetz! More strikes from Tyson and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Meetz lies dazed against the cage as Tyson celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Tyson!
