PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tom Servo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sid Frazier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Servo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sid Frazier!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Servo tries for a takedown but Frazier sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Servo tries to clinch up.
Servo looks for a takedown but Frazier sprawls well.

Servo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Frazier looking to hit a scissor sweep but Servo is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Servo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Servo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Servo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Servo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Frazier tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Frazier tries to strike from the bottom.

Frazier keeping full guard, as Servo tries to pass.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Servo closes the distance and clinches.
Frazier is trying to stall.
Servo wants to break free but Frazier has control.
Frazier tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Servo smiles and moves away.
Frazier tries to land a front kick but Servo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Frazier moves into the clinch successfully.
Servo jumps guard but Frazier stands there with Servo around his waist. Servo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Servo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Frazier wants to break free but Servo has control.

Servo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Servo has a takedown stuffed.
Frazier closes the distance but Servo moves to the side

and Servo moves into the clinch.

Frazier with a poor takedown

and Servo counters with a shoot takedown. Frazier fights it but they end up in guard.
Servo is breathing heavily.
Frazier lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Servo!

Frazier looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Frazier trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Frazier prevents Servo from getting the reversal.
Frazier tries to control but Servo wriggling away.
Servo tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Frazier content just to control the position here.
Servo is trying desperately to improve position.
Servo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Servo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Frazier is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Servo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Frazier lands a big shot there that rocks Servo but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Frazier looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Frazier tries to control but Servo wriggling away.
Frazier is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Frazier cracks Servo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Frazier tries to control but Servo wriggling away.
Servo is trying desperately to improve position.
Servo looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
A lull in the action here.
Frazier not allowing Servo to control his hands.

Servo manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tom Servo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Servo clinches up with Frazier and pushes him back against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Servo.
Frazier slows down the pace here.
Frazier is trying to break free.

Frazier is fighting off a takedown attempt but Servo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Frazier to the mat. Frazier regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Servo won't allow Frazier to sweep him here.

Servo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Frazier has his takedown stuffed

and Servo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Frazier's guard now.
Servo controlling from the top position.
Servo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Frazier is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Frazier manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Servo working to try and regain half guard.
Frazier looking to control but Servo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Frazier might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Servo kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Servo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Frazier on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Servo looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Servo covering up well and avoiding damage.

Servo trying to control but not successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Servo is trying to get back to his feet but Frazier has full control of the position and if anything, Servo has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Servo is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Frazier gets his way!

Frazier is persistently looking for the submission but Servo is defending it well.

Frazier is hanging on to Servo's back as he tries to escape.
Frazier gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Frazier misses with an elbow to the head.
Servo tries to break free.
Frazier scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Servo is looking for a way out.
Servo controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Servo can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Servo manages to stand up with Frazier still on his back. Eventually Frazier drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.
Sid Frazier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Servo takes the fight into the clinch.
Servo stops a takedown attempt from Frazier.
Servo wants a takedown.
Frazier is trying to break free.
Frazier drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tom Servo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sid Frazier.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tom Servo.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Servo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
