Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jj Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldo feints and as Mac raises his hands in defense, Aldo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mac looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Aldo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mac is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Aldo wants to stand but Mac is controlling his posture from full guard.

Aldo stands up and waves to Mac to follow him.

Aldo gets a clinch.

Aldo manages to break the clinch.

Mac tries to sprawl but Aldo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Aldo wants to stand up but Mac is controlling the position.

Aldo stands up and beckons Mac to join him on the feet.

Aldo gets a clinch.
Aldo lands a nice knee to the body.

Aldo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Aldo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Aldo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Aldo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Aldo tries to control but Mac wriggling away.

Aldo stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Aldo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aldo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mac is proving hard to escape from.

Mac escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aldo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Aldo is looking to stand up but Mac won't let him.
Aldo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mac is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Aldo defends well.
Aldo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mac is proving hard to escape from.

Aldo gets to his feet - Mac follows without any prompting.

Aldo scores with a hook to the body. Mac takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Aldo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Mac has managed to clinch.

Aldo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mac misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Aldo shoots in and bounces Mac off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mac bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Aldo's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Aldo dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

No joy there for Mac, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Aldo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mac's guard.

Mac has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Aldo doesn't defend quickly enough and Mac has managed to lock this one up! Can Aldo escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Mac on a fantastic submission victory.
