Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michal Materla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nisse Nyberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michal Materla is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michal Materla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nisse Nyberg!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nyberg closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Nyberg breaks the clinch.
Nyberg stuffs the takedown.
Nyberg fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Materla shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nyberg defends it nicely.
Materla will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Materla. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Materla tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Nyberg counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Nyberg shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nyberg was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nyberg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Materla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nyberg takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Materla sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Nyberg is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Materla blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nyberg.

Nyberg is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Materla sees it coming and defends easily.

Materla looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nyberg is controlling the pace.

Nyberg tries to stand and escape but Materla is controlling the position.
Nyberg trying to pass the guard but Materla defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Materla tries to roll over but Nyberg keeps him under control.

Nyberg stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Materla to get to his feet.

Nyberg fails with the takedown.
Materla tries for a takedown but Nyberg sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Materla is breathing heavily.
Materla wants to clinch up but Nyberg keeps it at a distance.

Materla gets tackled into the cage by Nyberg. Nyberg maintains the clinch.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Nyberg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nyberg gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Materla is trying to pull guard but Nyberg turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Materla throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Nyberg taking a breather.
Nyberg lands a body punch in the clinch.

Nyberg jumps guard and drags Materla to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Nyberg has Materla pulled in close to control his posture.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nyberg manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Materla manages to get himself to full guard.
Nyberg is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nisse Nyberg hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nyberg lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Nyberg.
A head kick misses from Nyberg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nisse Nyberg dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nyberg fails to land the takedown.
Nyberg scores with a hook to the body. Materla takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Michal Materla is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nyberg tries to sprawl but Materla drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Materla with the ground and pound but Nyberg uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Materla pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nyberg is keeping the position for now.
Nyberg is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nyberg pulls Materla in close to his closed guard and prevents Materla from doing any damage or advancing position.

Nyberg manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Materla manages to get himself to full guard.
Nyberg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Materla swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Materla not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Nyberg is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Materla is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Nyberg moves into the clinch.
Materla blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Materla wants a takedown but no success here.
Materla looking for a takedown.

Nyberg ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Nyberg no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Nyberg pulls Materla in close to prevent any damage.

Nyberg is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Materla won't allow Nyberg to sweep him here.

Nyberg had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Materla defends it easily.
Nyberg bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Materla's guard.
Materla will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Materla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Materla is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Nyberg must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Materla can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Nyberg controls the pace.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nisse Nyberg.

Nyberg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nyberg drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nisse Nyberg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Materla shoots in for a double leg but Nyberg sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nyberg scores with a one two! Materla had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Some bone on bone action there as Materla checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Materla swings wildly with an uppercut but Nyberg uses good head movement to avoid it.
Materla is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nyberg pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Horrible takedown by Materla or perhaps it was just good defense by Nyberg which made him look bad.

Materla isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Nyberg stacks Materla on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Nyberg!

Nisse Nyberg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nyberg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
