Ryan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Lightning. Ace Ryan will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Alvarez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ryan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ryan is not content to let Alvarez control the position.
Alvarez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Alvarez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Alvarez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Alvarez uses his free foot to push down on Ryan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ryan.
