Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Gibson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malcolm Riley! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gibson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Riley tries to avoid it but Gibson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Riley to the ground. Riley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Riley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gibson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Riley fails in his attempt to clinch. Gibson closes the distance and lands a one-two. Gibson fails with a takedown attempt. Gibson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Riley looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Gibson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Riley keeps working. Riley wants to get back to his feet but Gibson drags him back down. Gibson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Riley wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Gibson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Riley is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Riley tries to close the distance and clinch but Gibson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Riley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gibson scores with a takedown into Riley's guard. Riley is looking to stand up but Gibson isn't so interested in that idea. Riley is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Gibson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Riley won't allow Gibson to sweep him here. Gibson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Riley is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gibson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Riley's back instead. Riley is keeping busy.
