Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Nolan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel McFadden! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nolan shoots in for a takedown but McFadden shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Nolan circles away from the clinch attempt and Nolan counters with a nice double leg into guard. Nolan trying to control but McFadden is working from the bottom. McFadden keeping full guard, as Nolan tries to pass. Nolan trying to control the position from guard on top but McFadden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nolan passes McFadden's left leg - he's now in half guard. McFadden is defending against the submission attempts here by Nolan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nolan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McFadden is looking to control Nolan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McFadden avoid being mounted? Nolan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McFadden doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nolan. Nolan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

McFadden actively working from the bottom here. Nolan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McFadden sees it coming and defends easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nolan wants to work for an arm triangle but McFadden is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nolan wants to lay and pray for a moment but McFadden keeps working. Nolan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nolan is looking to advance position but McFadden won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nolan is looking for a kimura but McFadden is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nolan to get the leverage. McFadden slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nolan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nolan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Nolan advances position into side control! Nolan tries for a kimura but McFadden is defending well. Nolan tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Nolan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nolan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McFadden manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel McFadden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McFadden stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McFadden wants it to stay on the feet. McFadden slaps away a takedown attempt from Nolan, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from McFadden. Nolan is trying hard to land a takedown here. McFadden sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Nolan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nolan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McFadden swivels and escapes. McFadden shoots for a takedown but Nolan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. McFadden shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nolan is trying to defend but McFadden finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Nolan tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McFadden has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Chris Nolan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McFadden is looking to stall here but Nolan recovers full guard. Nolan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. McFadden distracts Nolan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. McFadden wants to stand and escape but instead Nolan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Nolan postures up.
McFadden is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. McFadden keeping moving, preventing Nolan from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nolan throws an elbow that misses. McFadden uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nolan's guard. Nice move by McFadden! Nolan working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because McFadden has passed into half guard!
Nolan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. McFadden is looking to take a break and control but Nolan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nolan is controlling McFadden's trapped leg to prevent McFadden from advancing to side control. Nolan wants to control but McFadden is keeping busy and won't allow it. McFadden wants to control but Nolan is keeping him busy.
Daniel McFadden has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. McFadden stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McFadden wants it to stay on the feet. McFadden shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McFadden was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Nolan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McFadden prevents Nolan from getting the reversal. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Daniel McFadden will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action!

McFadden wants to take a breather but Nolan is having none of it. Nolan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. McFadden perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Nolan looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and McFadden pushes past his half guard into mount! McFadden wants to control the pace but Nolan is squirming around nicely. McFadden has control of Nolan's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nolan regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nolan is trying to reverse the position but instead McFadden has taken his back - oops! McFadden is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Nolan defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. I would not like to be Nolan right now.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nolan trying to control the action but McFadden just sinks the hooks in. Nolan turns into McFadden and is now in his guard.
McFadden pulls Nolan in close to prevent any damage. Nolan wants to control from the top but McFadden keeps moving. Nolan stands and throws McFadden's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nolan is trying to get an arm triangle but McFadden is defending well. Nolan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. McFadden is trying to get back to half guard. Nolan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McFadden, who protects the arm well. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McFadden is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nolan off and has taken his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McFadden works his way back into a safe position though. McFadden preventing the sweep. Nolan is working hard here to advance position. Nolan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
