Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brian Lancer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gabriel Vidal! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vidal on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
It looks like Gabriel Vidal has been cut. Vidal closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lancer quickly recovers to half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Lancer wants to stand back up but Vidal manages to pass into side control.
Vidal working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lancer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vidal on the ground. Vidal tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Vidal slows the pace down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vidal is trying to get an arm triangle but Lancer is defending well. Vidal gets to mount! Lancer was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Vidal with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Vidal tries to push Lancer's head away but Lancer is holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vidal trying to control but he's not successful this time. Lancer keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Vidal avoids the attempt from Lancer to control. Lancer is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vidal controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lancer is looking to get to half guard. BOOM! Vidal connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lancer is looking to improve his position but Vidal isn't that keen on the idea. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Vidal cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Vidal landing shots from mount. Vidal lands a nice shot to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lancer wants to control but Vidal is having none of it. Vidal trying to control but Lancer is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vidal is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Vidal extends the arm and Lancer is forced to tap!
