Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Will Harmon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Parker! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Harmon. Harmon looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Harmon on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Parker drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Parker passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Harmon! Parker working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Parker stands up from mount. Strange move. Parker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Parker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Harmon has escaped the position, nice work there. Parker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Harmon has escaped the position, nice work there. Parker tries for a kimura but Harmon is defending well. Parker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Harmon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Parker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Parker wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Harmon, who protects the arm well. Harmon stops Parker from passing to mount. Harmon is not content to let Parker control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Parker advances to mount. Parker stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Parker scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Parker controls the position. Parker grinds an elbow into Harmon's temple. Parker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Harmon is trying to get back to half guard. Parker decides to stand back up. Parker steps back and let's Harmon get back to his feet. Harmon lands with a slapping head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Parker swats away the attempt to clinch by Harmon. Harmon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Harmon is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Parker has his hands clasped together but Harmon extends an breaks Parker's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Harmon.
