PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Bex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brain Damage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bex comes into the arena with French blaring out of the sound system. Damage has chosen Notorious B.I.G - Kick In The Door as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robbie Bex! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brain Damage! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bex shoots in for a takedown but Damage shows good takedown defense. Bex with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Damage to score with a decent uppercut. A head kick misses from Bex. Bex bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Bex wants to clinch up but Damage keeps it at a distance. Damage rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bex moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Bex misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. No joy there for Damage, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Some bone on bone action there as Bex checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Danga de danga de dang - Bex scores with a four punch combination! Bex avoids a kick to the body.
Damage slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Damage swats away the attempt to clinch by Bex. Damage tries a low kick but Bex avoids it. Damage throws a looping overhand right but Bex ducks down to avoid it. Damage connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Brain Damage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bex moves in looking to clinch but Damage pushes him off. Bex dodges the punch combination from Damage.
Brain Damage is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Damage scores with a jab. Bex acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Bex shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Damage defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robbie Bex. That's going to take a lot out of him. Damage tries to bum rush Bex with a series of wild strikes but Bex uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Bex throws a low kick but it's checked well by Damage. Bex gets the takedown into side control. Bex decides to stand back up. Damage has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Damage misses with a few strikes there.

Damage looks to land a combination but Bex avoids it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bex shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bex blocks a head kick by Damage.
Bex wants to clinch up but Damage keeps it at a distance. Damage misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bex has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Robbie Bex has been cut. Bex goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Damage catches Bex with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Damage keeps the fight on the outside. Damage throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bex. Bex tries to clinch up but Damage circles away and keeps his distance. The fight moves into the clinch position. Bex fails to pull guard.
Bex throws an elbow but it misses.
Damage fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bex wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Bex jumps guard but Damage turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Bex tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Damage's elbow. Bex fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Damage as Bex tries to tie him up. Bex's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Bex misses with a punch to the body.
Bex blocks an uppercut.
Bex wants to get back to striking at distance but Damage won't allow it.
Damage is struggling to control the position. Bex is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Damage is defending well. Bex has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Damage avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. A short right hand to the side of the head by Damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Damage lands a body punch. Bex is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Damage escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Damage lands a big shot that drops Bex! Can he finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bex utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Damage accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Damage slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Bex looking to control.
Damage is in close to Bex's body, working some short punches and elbows. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Damage has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bex is proving hard to escape from. Bex has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Damage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Damage loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brain Damage dominated that round. The cut man is working on Robbie Bex's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Bex tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Damage throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Bex's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Damage dives in looking to finish as Bex flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Damage's strikes! Damage is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Bex's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Bex was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brain Damage!
