Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Donald Gaskins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cripy Hegarty!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hegarty on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Hegarty shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gaskins pinned against the cage. Gaskins gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gaskins connects with a solid leg kick.
Gaskins throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Hegarty tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Gaskins is able to avoid easily.
Hegarty with a poor takedown
and Gaskins counters with a solid body kick.
Gaskins keeps Hegarty at a distance using the push kick.
Hegarty looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hegarty takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Gaskins lands a head kick!
It looks like Cripy Hegarty has been cut.
That kick from Gaskins tenderised Hegarty's leg. Hegarty is trying to keep his angry face on.
Gaskins feints and then cracks Hegarty's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hegarty down.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hegarty crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gaskins - the referee stops the clock and Hegarty gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gaskins. Hegarty manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Gaskins scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hegarty doesn't seem bothered though.
Gaskins paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Hegarty is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gaskins throws a pinpoint strike between Hegarty's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Hegarty crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Gaskins scores a great knockout victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Donald Gaskins!
During a confident post fight interview, Donald Gaskins thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
