Bateman comes to the cage accompanied by Huey Lewis and the News - Hip To Be Square. Matthews has chosen God's Gonna Cut You Down as his entrance music. And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Matthews avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Matthews clinches up against the cage.
Matthews lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Patrick Bateman has been cut.
Matthews lands an elbow just above Bateman 's eye.
Bateman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Matthews smiles and moves away.
Matthews circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bateman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Matthews stuffs the takedown attempt from Bateman. Bateman gets slowly back to his feet.
Matthews swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bateman.
Bateman is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bateman rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Matthews counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Bateman is breathing heavily.
An inside leg kick lands from Matthews.
Matthews closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Bateman! Matthews dives in looking to finish! Bateman is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Matthews! Mike Matthews retains his welterweight title!
A relieved looking Mike Matthews thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
