PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spar Wrestling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walter comes into the arena with Black Sabbath - War Pigs blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Mark Walter has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Wrestling.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Wrestling tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Walter can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wrestling wants to control but Walter is keeping him busy.

Wrestling stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wrestling has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Walter is proving hard to escape from.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Wrestling really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Spar Wrestling was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Walter lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Wrestling has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Wrestling and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

A close second round but Spar Wrestling will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Wrestling avoids the body shot from Walter.
Walter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wrestling sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Walter somewhat.

Wrestling closes the distance and clinches up with Walter, looking for a takedown. Wrestling pushes Walter against the cage but Walter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Walter throws a low kick, looking for Wrestling's leg but Wrestling calmly moves out of range.

Spar Wrestling is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Walter.
I think Wrestling has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
