Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Percy Priest!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Evans!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Priest darts in trying to clinch
and Evans counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Evans.
Priest with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Priest using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Evans has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Evans pulls guard effortlessly.
Evans wriggles free and stands up.
Percy Priest seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Priest wants to clinch but Evans slips to the side
and Evans counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Priest looking to hit a scissor sweep but Evans is one step ahead there.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Evans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Evans passes Priest's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Evans throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Evans tries to pass the half guard into mount. Priest knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Priest has hold of Evans's hands but Evans slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Priest knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Evans on the ground.
Evans uses his free foot to push down on Priest's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Priest.
Priest can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evans lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Priest hang on?
That's two minutes gone in the round.

Priest takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Evans scoring with strikes but Priest is staying in there.
Priest is rocked!
Evans lands a heavy elbow.
Oh Priest is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Evans unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Priest wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Evans celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Evans!
