PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damian Nitschke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Axel Whitecoat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whitecoat has chosen Seven Nation Army as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Damian Nitschke has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Damian Nitschke seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Nitschke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Axel Whitecoat!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nitschke throws a big shot that misses.
Nitschke swats away the attempt to clinch by Whitecoat.
A punch combination from Nitschke misses.
Nitschke misses with a straight left.
Whitecoat scores with a punch to the head.
Whitecoat lands an overhand right.
Nitschke closes this distance looking for a takedown but Whitecoat circles away.
Donk. Whitecoat catches Nitschke right on the button with a cross.

Whitecoat closes the distance and clinches.
Nitschke is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Whitecoat gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Nitschke is fighting off a takedown attempt but Whitecoat is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nitschke to the mat. Nitschke regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Whitecoat trying to control the position from guard on top but Nitschke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nitschke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Whitecoat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Nitschke is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Whitecoat sees it coming and defends easily.

Whitecoat is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nitschke's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nitschke's back!

I really don't envy Nitschke right now.

Nitschke drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Whitecoat manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nitschke has Whitecoat in his guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nitschke is fighting to break Whitecoat's control of his arms but Whitecoat is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Nitschke drops back looking for a leg! Whitecoat is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Whitecoat manages to kick Nitschke off! Nitschke jumps back into Whitecoat's guard.

Whitecoat escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nitschke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nitschke thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Nitschke bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Whitecoat's guard.

Nitschke has gone for a leg lock! Whitecoat slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nitschke's guard.
Nitschke striking off his back but it's not causing Whitecoat any problems.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nitschke closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Whitecoat stuffs the takedown attempt from Nitschke. Nitschke gets slowly back to his feet.
Nitschke lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Whitecoat darts in and clinches Nitschke up against the cage.

Whitecoat breaks the clinch.
Whitecoat uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nitschke.
Whitecoat is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Whitecoat tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Nitschke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nice uppercut lands for Whitecoat. That snapped Nitschke's head back.
Nitschke throws out a loose jab but Whitecoat uses good head movement to avoid it.

Whitecoat connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Nitschke's hands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Whitecoat shoots in and drives through. Nitschke sprawls well.
Whitecoat misses with a low kick.
Nitschke looks to score with a jab to the body but Whitecoat is just out of range.
Nitschke throws a shot from downtown. Whitecoat moves away and avoids it.
Whitecoat lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Nitschke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Whitecoat moves away.
Whitecoat throws a sloppy head kick and Nitschke moves out of range easily.
Horrible takedown by Nitschke or perhaps it was just good defense by Whitecoat which made him look bad.
Whitecoat lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Whitecoat cracks Nitschke with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nitschke's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Whitecoat connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Nitschke scrambles back to his feet.

That was a close second round but I would say that Damian Nitschke will probably get the nod.
That's time! Nitschke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Whitecoat might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

A looping hook to the body misses from Nitschke. Whitecoat does a little dance to reset his feet.

Whitecoat's corner calls for a 1-2. Whitecoat obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Nitschke has his foot on Whitecoat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Whitecoat works his way back into a safe position though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Whitecoat connects with a nice short shot to Nitschke's temple.

Nitschke wants to control but Whitecoat is keeping busy.
Nitschke is staying active underneath Whitecoat, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Whitecoat is taking a breather. Nitschke says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Axel Whitecoat comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Whitecoat has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
