Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrea Tama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Diego Ventura! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ventura drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Tama trying to strike off his back.
Ventura controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Ventura postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ventura postures up.
Ventura lands a couple of decent looking shots. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ventura accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ventura stays in close to Tama's body and controls the position. Ventura scoring with punches to the head and body. Ventura throws an elbow that misses. Tama uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ventura's guard. Nice move by Tama! Ventura trying to control the position here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Tama trying to control but Ventura is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tama in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ventura tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ventura pulls Tama in to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tama trying to move into half guard but instead Ventura has managed to sweep! Tama has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ventura seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Ventura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tama swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ventura looking to score a takedown here. Tama is defending well but Ventura drives through and ends up in Tama's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ventura passes Tama's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ventura wants to pass the guard but Tama is defending well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ventura is thwarting Tama's attempts to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ventura not doing much here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tama is trying to control but can't.
We're going to have a standup here because Andrea Tama wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Ventura shoots in but Tama avoids the takedown attempt easily. Tama gets caught flat footed, as Ventura shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ventura wants to control from the top but Tama keeps moving. Ventura throws a big elbow that misses. Ventura working some strikes from top position. Tama is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ventura is aware though and is defending well. Tama is breathing heavily. Ventura lands a couple of decent looking shots. Ventura trying to control but Tama is working from the bottom. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ventura looking to pass the guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Ventura dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Tama misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ventura.
Ventura feints and as Tama raises his hands in defense, Ventura changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ventura tries to free his leg and advance position but Tama is retaining full guard. Tama trying to control the position.
Ventura throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tama works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ventura stopping the sweep attempt from Tama. Ventura must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ventura stays in close to Tama's body and controls the position. Ventura advances to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ventura working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ventura in particular looking to stall. Ventura is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ventura sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ventura working Tama over with strikes. Tama blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ventura. Ventura thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Ventura is looking to pass Tama's guard but actually Tama recovers to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ventura's corner is telling him to maintain position. Ventura looking to pass the guard. Ventura lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ventura looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Diego Ventura was stalling too much, according to the referee. Tama misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Andrea Tama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Tama gets a clinch. Ventura is trying to trip Tama. He has hold of a leg but Tama is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ventura persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Ventura trying to control but Tama is working from the bottom. Ventura is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Ventura postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Tama is rocked! Ventura is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Oh Tama is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ventura gets to his feet and stands over Tama, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Tama felt that one! Ventura unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Tama from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Diego Ventura! An out of breath and clearly excited Diego Ventura thanked Valhalla Fight Wear for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
