Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ignatious Hashisha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maurice Cote! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cote drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Cote throws a strike but Hashisha rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hashisha content to stall in guard here. Hashisha is pushing down on Cote's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cote is fighting to maintain full guard but Hashisha has managed to sneak the leg through. Hashisha slows the pace down in half guard. Hashisha prevents Cote from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hashisha seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Hashisha has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Ignatious Hashisha just wasn't active enough. Hashisha scores with a jab to the jaw. Hashisha scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hashisha changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Ignatious Hashisha is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cote shoots and misses letting Hashisha counter with a right hand. Cote looks gassed! Hashisha jabs at Cote's body. Hashisha dances in with a quick combination. Cote is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Hashisha snaps Cote's head back. Cote stumbles backwards against the cage. Hashisha steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Cote's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Cote just didn't come prepared.
