PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brendon Segura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brendon Segura!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Segura fails to land with a series of punches.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Segura as he avoids it easily.
Segura misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Walker.
Walker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Walker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Walker fails in his attempt to clinch.
Walker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Walker throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Walker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Segura throws a head kick but Walker moves out of range.
Walker uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Segura.
Segura lands with a slapping head kick.
Segura avoids a kick to the body.
Some wild striking there from Segura.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Segura instigates a clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Segura just misses with a elbow thrown towards Walker's brow.
Walker is trying to force a seperation but Segura has the dominant position.
Walker keeps control of Segura as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Walker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Walker pulls Segura into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Segura has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Walker is proving hard to escape from.
Walker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Segura trying to control but Walker is working from the bottom.
Walker has control of Segura's left arm, preventing Segura from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Segura's guard.
Walker looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Segura keeping full guard, as Walker tries to pass.
Segura looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walker is one step ahead there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Walker is defended easily by Segura.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Walker is trying to pull guard but Segura has him pressed against the cage.
Walker wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Walker wants to get back to striking at distance but Segura won't allow it.
Segura has Walker pressed against the cage, preventing Walker from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Walker changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Segura fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Segura throws a wild body kick that Walker sees coming a mile off.
Segura lands with a kick to the temple. Walker shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Alex Walker has been cut.
Walker moves out of range of the body kick.

Walker fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Segura, pushing him back against the cage.

Segura manages to break the clinch.
Segura stuffs the takedown attempt from Walker. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.
Segura throws a right hand that Walker ducks under and follows up with a left that Walker also avoids with ease.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walker throws a leg kick
and Segura counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Walker is lucky that one didn't land flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Segura tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Walker counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brendon Segura will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Alex Walker's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Walker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Walker taking a break here but Segura is having none of it and regains half guard.
Segura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Segura is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Segura is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Segura pushes Walker off looking to stand but Walker dives back in and keeps control.
Segura scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Walker manages to mount him!
Walker trying to control but Segura is having none of it.
Walker controlling the pace for now.

Walker wants to control the pace but Segura is squirming around nicely.
Walker with a couple of short strikes.
Walker looking to ground and pound but Segura is blocking nicely.
Walker sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walker looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Segura tries to improve his position but instead Walker has taken his back!
Walker scores with strikes from the back.
Segura rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Segura is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Walker jumps into side control!
Segura is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Walker is working to tighten is grip on Segura's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Segura has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Walker is really squeezing tight and eventually Segura passes out! Walker breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Alex Walker!
