Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Tevez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Fletcher! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tevez tries for a takedown but Fletcher sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tevez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fletcher looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Fletcher tries to get back to half guard but can't. Fletcher gets back to half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Tevez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tevez is working for a kimura but Fletcher is defending it quite comfortably.
Tevez prevents Fletcher from improving his position. Fletcher is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fletcher slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tevez won't allow Fletcher to sweep him here. Tevez could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Tevez advances to half guard. Tevez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Fletcher tries to get to full guard but Tevez has control of the leg. Tevez is looking to take a break and control but Fletcher is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tevez blocks the strikes from Fletcher.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Tevez wants to take a breather but Fletcher is having none of it. Fletcher is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Tevez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fletcher swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Tevez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Tevez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tevez shoots in looking for a takedown. Fletcher tries to sprawl out of it but Tevez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fletcher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Tevez is breathing heavily. Tevez looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Fletcher looking for a sweep. Not yet Fletcher, not yet. Fletcher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tevez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tevez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fletcher's guard. Tevez wants to work for an arm triangle but Fletcher is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fletcher is on top in guard.
Fletcher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fletcher stopping the sweep attempt from Tevez. Tevez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fletcher. Fletcher trying to control but Tevez is working from the bottom. Tevez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Tevez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tevez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Fletcher lands a couple of decent looking shots. Tevez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fletcher working some strikes from top position. Fletcher landing some decent shots from guard. Fletcher prevents Tevez from getting back to his feet. Fletcher advances position into side control! Tevez takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Fletcher working the head with strikes. Fletcher lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Tevez is rocked! Fletcher in side control lands a decent elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Carlos Tevez will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Fletcher gets a big slam - oh, Tevez is out! Tevez is out! That's a nasty KO!
