Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rudy Roughknight! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Smith! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roughknight tests Smith's chin there with a solid looking shot. Roughknight swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Roughknight throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Roughknight has Smith pulled in close to control his posture. Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Smith works a leg free and moves into half guard. Roughknight tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg. Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Roughknight has managed to free his arm - good work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Smith is working for a kimura but Roughknight is defending it quite comfortably.
Roughknight is trying to stand back up but Smith is controlling him
Roughknight knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith prevents Roughknight from improving his position. Smith in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Roughknight tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Smith!
