The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severn shoots in but no luck this time.

Rich closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rich with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Severn jumps guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rich trying to control the position from guard on top but Severn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rich wanted to stand there but Severn had control of the position.

Severn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rich doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rich manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Severn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Buddy Rich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rich instigates a clinch.
Severn is trying to pull guard but Rich turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Rich lands an elbow that stopped Severn in his tracks for a moment.

It looks like Johnny Severn has been cut.
Rich misses with an elbow over the top.
Rich tries to land knees in the clinch but Severn avoids the damage to the body.

Rich wants to get up but he can't break Severn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Severn throws his legs up looking for a submission but Rich uses it to pass to side control.
Severn is looking for a sweep.

Rich thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rich wants to stand but Severn is controlling his arm.

Rich goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Severn rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rich's guard! Nice work there by Severn!

Severn prevents Rich from getting back to his feet.

Severn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rich shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rich tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Severn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Rich has managed to clinch.
Severn is trying to pull guard but Rich turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Severn changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rich fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Severn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rich gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Severn pivots and extends the arm, Rich falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Severn! Well done that man!
