PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Knut Ludvigsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ludvigsen comes to the cage accompanied by Grevling I Taket. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Knut Ludvigsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Robert Cain!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cain checks a leg kick.
Ludvigsen misses with a body shot.
Ludvigsen throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Ludvigsen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cain avoids it really well and circles away.
Ludvigsen thows a leg kick but Cain checks it
and Cain counters with a good low kick that Ludvigsen was not able to check.
Knut Ludvigsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice leg kick lands there from Cain.
Ludvigsen shoots in for a takedown but Cain shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cain throws a solid leg kick but Ludvigsen takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Cain.
Ludvigsen throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Ludvigsen throws a leg kick but Cain sees it coming and moves out of range.

Ludvigsen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cain was covering up waiting for the punch and Ludvigsen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Cain looking for a guillotine here but Ludvigsen defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ludvigsen throws a strike but Cain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Cain wants to control from the top but Ludvigsen keeps moving.
Cain is looking to work some ground and pound but Ludvigsen has wrist control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ludvigsen keeping moving, preventing Cain from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Robert Cain was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A head kick from Ludvigsen lands but Cain takes it in his stride.
A lazy body kick from Ludvigsen
and Cain counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Ludvigsen just misses with a punch to the body.

Ludvigsen slips under a jab.
Ludvigsen motions for Cain to come forward. Ludvigsen throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ludvigsen dives in and grabs Cain's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cain pushes down on Ludvigsen's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Knut Ludvigsen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cain checks a low kick from Ludvigsen.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ludvigsen, right into the meat.
Cain throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Ludvigsen misses with a combination
and Cain counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ludvigsen thinking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Robert Cain will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Ludvigsen goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Cain lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Cain throws a leg kick which misses Ludvigsen's front leg but catches the back leg as Ludvigsen tries to avoid it.
Cain lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ludvigsen circles away quickly and effectively.
Cain tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Cain checks a leg kick.
Cain connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ludvigsen is looking to land body kicks.
Cain lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ludvigsen circles away quickly and effectively.
Cain chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cain.
Cain looks to score with a jab to the body but Ludvigsen is just out of range.
Ludvigsen throws a half hearted mid kick.
Cain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ludvigsen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cain wants to control but Ludvigsen is keeping busy.
Ludvigsen trying to mount his opponent but Cain defends it.
Ludvigsen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ludvigsen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cain knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Cain is looking to get back to is feet but Ludvigsen passes into side control.
Ludvigsen working the ground and pound.
Ludvigsen trying to control the action but Cain is working from the bottom.
Ludvigsen controls the position from side control.
Ludvigsen throws an elbow but Cain slips to the side and avoids it well.

You can see the frustration on Cain's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ludvigsen cracks Cain with a big right hand but Cain just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Ludvigsen trying to control the position but Cain is working away.
Ludvigsen slows the pace down.
Ludvigsen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cain keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cain wants to control but Ludvigsen postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Knut Ludvigsen will probably get the nod.
That's time! Ludvigsen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Ludvigsen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Cain hang on?
Ludvigsen lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Cain tries to buck Ludvigsen off but he can't manage it.
Knut Ludvigsen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ludvigsen lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Ludvigsen connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

A nice elbow there by Ludvigsen.
Ludvigsen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cain on the ground.
Cain tries to lock up and control but Ludvigsen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Cain squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ludvigsen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ludvigsen trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Cain regains half guard.
Ludvigsen is nestled in close to Cain, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Cain actively working from the bottom here.
Cain is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ludvigsen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ludvigsen's back!

Ludvigsen defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Cain's arms.
I really don't envy Ludvigsen right now.

Cain is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Cain's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

And that's the end of the fight!
Knut Ludvigsen showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ludvigsen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
