Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rila Kuma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mega Funkyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kuma comes to the cage accompanied by Teach me how to Daugie. Funkyama has chosen Bon Jovi: Bad Medicine as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Mega Funkyama enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mega Funkyama!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Funkyama fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Funkyama fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kuma checks it well.
Funkyama misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Funkyama keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kuma misses with a hook. Funkyama ducked under it nicely.

and Kuma counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Funkyama tries to clinch but Kuma moves out of range.
Funkyama motions for Kuma to come forward. Funkyama throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Kuma comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kuma with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Funkyama to score with a decent uppercut.

The ground and pound from Funkyama seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Funkyama wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kuma keeps working.

Kuma throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Funkyama shoots in for a double leg but Kuma sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Funkyama can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kuma is looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Funkyama there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Funkyama postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kuma looks a forlorn figure.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kuma throws the kick towards the body but Funkyama avoids it.
The crowd cheers as Funkyama lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kuma doesn't seem phased though.

The referee is keeping an eye on Funkyama - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Funkyama has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kuma avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Come on Funkyama - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Kuma will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Funkyama closes the distance and clinches up with Kuma, looking for a takedown. Funkyama pushes Kuma against the cage but Kuma circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Mega Funkyama showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Funkyama throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kuma stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kuma enables Funkyama to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kuma manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Funkyama changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kuma tries to avoid it but Funkyama manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kuma to the ground. Kuma escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Funkyama takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mega Funkyama comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Funkyama has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
