Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between QL Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). QL Hicks is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, QL Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks avoids a punch combination nicely.
Donk. Gracie catches Hicks right on the button with a cross.
Gracie is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hicks's half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hicks gets back to full guard.
Hicks working for submissions but it's allowed Gracie to get to half guard.
Hicks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gracie is taking a breather. Hicks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Hicks is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hicks tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.

Ryan Gracie has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Gracie moves in looking to clinch but Hicks pushes him off.
Hicks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hicks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gracie, pushing him back against the cage.
Hicks misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hicks tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gracie's elbow.
Hicks is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gracie can't fight it off and eventually Hicks manages to take the fight to the floor. Gracie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hicks is trying to control the action in half guard but Gracie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because QL Hicks wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hicks fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it.
Gracie fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hicks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gracie paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Gracie bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hicks's head backwards.

and Gracie counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gracie tries to clinch up but Hicks circles away and keeps his distance.
Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hicks paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hicks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gracie but Gracie pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fight stays on the outside here - Gracie looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hicks has control of Gracie's left arm, preventing Gracie from doing any damage.

Hicks throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hicks pulls Gracie in close to his closed guard and prevents Gracie from doing any damage or advancing position.
Gracie won't allow Hicks to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hicks looks to throw the jab but Gracie is out of range.
Hicks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gracie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for QL Hicks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hicks misses with a body punch
and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hicks is not content to let Gracie control the position.
Hicks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Gracie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hicks moves into the clinch.
Gracie tries a body shot but Hicks blocks it.
Hicks lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Hicks tries to throw a body punch but Gracie avoids it by throwing Hicks back against the cage.
Gracie goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Gracie has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hicks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Gracie goes for a takedown attempt but Hicks pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch but Hicks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gracie goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Gracie walks into a straight right hand from Hicks.
Hicks takes a swing at Gracie's ribcage but misses.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Hicks manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
QL Hicks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Gracie.
Gracie moves out of range as Hicks strikes.
Hicks catches Gracie with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Hicks misses with an uppercut. Gracie saw that one coming.

and Gracie counters with a head kick.
Gracie lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Gracie slips a jab and a cross from Hicks.

Hicks looks for a takedown but Gracie sprawls well.
Gracie throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Hicks's head.
Hicks tries to land a front kick but Gracie steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Hicks rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hicks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gracie is staying active underneath Hicks, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie wants to get back to his feet but Hicks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well Hicks has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
