Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tim Steele!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele jabs at Nelson's body.
Steele throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Steele tries to move into range but Nelson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Nelson checks a leg kick.
Nelson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Steele moves away.
Steele looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Steele is looking to chop away at Nelson's legs.
Steele lands with a hook. Nelson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Steele takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Gunnar Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steele throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nelson sees it coming and avoids it easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Nelson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Steele has escaped the position, nice work there.

Nelson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Steele is looking to improve his position.
Nelson wants to free his trapped foot but Steele is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Nelson thows a huge punch but Steele dodges it nicely.

Nelson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Nelson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Steele does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Steele keeps working.
Nelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Steele makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Steele.
Steele pulls Nelson in close to his closed guard and prevents Nelson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Nelson postures up in Steele's guard and throws a big left but Steele blocks it.

Nelson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Nelson throws an elbow that misses. Steele uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nelson's guard. Nice move by Steele!

Steele gets to his feet. Nelson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nelson throws out a powerful jab.
Nelson tries to bum rush Steele with a series of wild strikes but Steele uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nelson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Steele throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nelson was covering up waiting for the punch and Steele finishes the takedown easily into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Steele wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Steele moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Nelson thows a body shot but no joy.
Nelson throws a big shot that misses.
Steele uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nelson.

Steele drives through with a takedown into Nelson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Steele slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Nelson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Steele wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving.

Nelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steele gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nelson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Steele!
Nelson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Nelson throws some wild stikes that Steele manages to avoid easily.
Nelson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Steele sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steele is trying to escape back to his feet but Nelson uses the scramble to pass into side control.
The strikes coming from Nelson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nelson wants to control but Steele is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Nelson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Steele stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Steele wants it to stay on the feet.

Nelson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Steele.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Steele, as that shot connected.
Some bone on bone action there as Steele checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Nelson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gunnar Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Tim Steele comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nelson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
