Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jaghatai Khan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kid Mantuano! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mantuano is trying hard to land a takedown here. Khan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mantuano shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Mantuano is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Khan.
It looks like Kid Mantuano has been cut. Decent striking displayed by Khan there. Mantuano fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jaghatai Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kid Mantuano. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Khan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Khan closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mantuano is rocked! Khan digs a good hook to Mantuano's body.
Mantuano closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Khan prevents the takedown attempt.
Mantuano tries to pull guard but Khan forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Khan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mantuano has him pressed against the cage. Mantuano drags the fight down to the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mantuano wants to sweep but no luck. Khan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mantuano has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Khan has managed to get both his arms back between Mantuano's legs - danger averted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mantuano looking for a guillotine here but Khan defends easily.
Khan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mantuano on the ground. Mantuano looks gassed! Mantuano looking to control.
Mantuano is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Mantuano working for a triangle but Khan defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Khan is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Mantuano has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Khan is looking to defend but Mantuano has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Khan! Mantuano pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Khan taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kid Mantuano!
