PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Sack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Darian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Darian's choice of entrance music: Fly By Night. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Sack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Lance Darian!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darian missing with a left hand there. Sack was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nice shot lands for Darian.
Darian avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Darian misses with an uppercut. Sack saw that one coming.
Bobby Sack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Sack. Those never looked like landing.
Sack tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Darian displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sack.
Sack shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Darian sprawls well. Darian wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sack gets slowly back to his feet.
Sack fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Lance Darian is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sack fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Darian to the ground. Sack is now in Darian's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Sack is looking to advance position but Darian has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Darian has control of Sack's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sack regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Darian won't let Sack get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Darian goes for an armbar but Sack turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sack.

Darian wriggles free and stands up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Darian enables Sack to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Darian manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sack not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Darian pulls Sack in close to his closed guard and prevents Sack from doing any damage or advancing position.
Darian is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Darian keeping moving, preventing Sack from controlling successfully.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sack is really struggling to control Darian but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Bobby Sack has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
No joy there for Sack, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Darian lands with a nice combination. Sack backs away looking to recover.
Darian is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Darian misses with an uppercut. Sack saw that one coming.
Darian dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sack misses with a takedown
and Darian counters with a three punch combo that has Sack backing up. Sack nods at Darian to acknowledge the strikes.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sack shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Darian defends it nicely.
Darian thuds his right hand into Sack's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Sack loads up on a big right hand but Darian slips the punch.
Darian avoids the head kick by Sack.
Darian on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Sack shoots in for a takedown but Darian shows good takedown defense.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Some wild striking there from Sack.
Sack fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Darian counters with a left and a right that stings Sack.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Darian dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Darian counters with a left and a right that stings Sack.

Sack closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Darian quickly recovers to half guard.
Darian controlling the position for now.
Sack wants to lay and pray for a moment but Darian keeps working.
Darian moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sack looking to sit in guard and control but Darian gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Darian is standing up over Sack. Sack looks to escape but Darian dives into side control.
Sack wants to get back to his feet.
Darian wants to control but Sack is keeping him busy.

Darian looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Darian is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sack has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Darian in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Darian wants to control but Sack is keeping him busy.
Sack tries to escape but Darian is in control.
Sack knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Darian on the ground.
Darian is staying tight to Sack's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Darian tries for a kimura but Sack is defending well.
Darian tries to move to mount but Sack blocks the move with his legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Darian has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Darian lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Sack looks for the body kick but Darian saw that one coming.
Sack bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Darian lands a right hook to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A bone on bone clash there as Sack blocks the leg kick.
Darian throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sack.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Darian slaps away a takedown attempt from Sack, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Darian lands a jab to Sack's midsection.
Sack fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sack takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Darian fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sack.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sack. Darian does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sack tries to move into range but Darian moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Sack looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Sack. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Darian drops Sack with a beautiful combination! Sack stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Darian is looking for the KO!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A solid leg kick lands there for Darian.
Darian misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lance Darian showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Ouch! a nice leg kick from Darian, right into the meat.
Darian lands a jab to Sack's midsection.
Sack on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Sack tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Darian paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sack needs to keep his hands up - Darian had a free shot at his head there.
Lance Darian seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Darian counters with a stiff right hand.
Oh Sack is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sack throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Darian counters with a nice right hand that sends Sack toppling to the canvas! Sack scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Darian finish him?!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Darian misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sack.

Sack wants to clinch up but Darian keeps it at a distance.
Sack seems to have got his legs back now.
Darian has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Sack shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Darian as he avoids it easily.
Darian swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Darian connects with a jab.
Darian throws a sloppy head kick and Sack moves out of range easily.
Sack takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Darian lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Darian.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Darian connects with a stiff jab that staggers Sack - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Lance Darian!
An out of breath Lance Darian thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
