Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ki Yong Hyun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rene Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ki Yong Hyun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rene Perez!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyun fails in his attempt to clinch.
Perez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hyun avoids it really well and circles away.
Hyun wants to clinch

and Perez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hyun won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Perez blocks the strikes from Hyun.
Perez in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Perez misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Perez is staying tight to Hyun's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Hyun takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Hyun tries to bench press Perez off him but Perez keeps the position.
Hyun knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perez on the ground.
Perez scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hyun to see if he's OK.

Hyun takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hyun is letting Perez control him for a moment.
Check out the look on Perez's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Hyun is in a horrible position here. Perez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Perez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Perez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Perez breaks from Hyun's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hyun slaps away a takedown attempt from Perez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Perez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hyun but Hyun pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hyun displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Perez.
Ki Yong Hyun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rene Perez.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hyun looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Perez keeps the fight on the outside.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Perez counters with a shoot takedown. Hyun fights it but they end up in guard.

Perez is working Hyun over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Still in half guard, Perez seems content to control.
Perez scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Perez thows a huge punch but Hyun dodges it nicely.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Perez is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hyun can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perez cracks Hyun with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Perez lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hyun hang on?
Perez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
BOOM! Perez connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rene Perez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Hyun tries to clinch but Perez is having none of it.

Perez swats away the attempt to clinch by Hyun.
Hyun tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Perez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Perez with that takedown attempt.
Perez swats away the attempt to clinch by Hyun.
Perez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hyun swivels and escapes.
Ki Yong Hyun has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ki Yong Hyun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rene Perez.
Hyun fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hyun tries to clinch but Perez is having none of it.

Perez keeps the fight on the outside.
Hyun tries to clinch up but Perez circles away and keeps his distance.
Perez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hyun sprawls well. Hyun wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perez gets slowly back to his feet.
Hyun tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Perez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Horrible takedown by Perez or perhaps it was just good defense by Hyun which made him look bad.
Perez fails with the takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ki Yong Hyun showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Perez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
