Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Harris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 82 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boston Terrier! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harris looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Harris decides to stand and escape the position. Harris has taken the fight to the clinch.
Harris successfully pulls guard.
Harris will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Terrier preventing the sweep. Harris pushes Terrier off and scrambles back to his feet.
Harris feints a jab promting Terrier to slip. Harris then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Terrier slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Harris drives through with a takedown into Terrier's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harris's corner is telling him to maintain position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Harris postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Harris showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Harris thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Harris stands and throws Terrier's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris has an Americana. Terrier didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Harris is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Harris hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Paul Harris!
