Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tjerk Hamer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kevin Cromphout! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hamer looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Cromphout utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Cromphout is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cromphout trying to control the position.
Hamer throwing strikes but missing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hamer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cromphout swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they both work up against the meshing. Hamer content to stall in guard here. Cromphout looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hamer passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Cromphout is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cromphout works his way to full guard. Good work. Cromphout bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hamer's guard. Hamer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cromphout drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cromphout jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Hamer trying to control the position.
Hamer will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Cromphout advances to half guard. Hamer trying to hold on to Cromphout's head to control him but Cromphout postures up.
Cromphout wants to control but Hamer is keeping him busy. Hamer is trying to stand up here but Cromphout is controlling him well. Hamer is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cromphout in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Hamer tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Cromphout!
