Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cheney Meney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James McDonovan! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meney changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Meney throws a looping overhand right but McDonovan ducks down to avoid it. Meney looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. McDonovan throws a right and a left that Meney avoids nicely. McDonovan digs a good body shot into Meney's ribs. McDonovan throws a sloppy head kick and Meney moves out of range easily. McDonovan tries to clinch there but Meney circles away.
McDonovan ducks under a wild hook from Meney. Meney lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McDonovan circles away quickly and effectively. McDonovan ducks under a wild hook from Meney. Meney ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McDonovan moves away. McDonovan moves to clinch but Meney breaks away and Meney counters with a nice body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meney blocks a head kick by McDonovan.
McDonovan fails in his attempt to clinch. Meney misses with an uppercut. No joy there for Meney, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McDonovan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. McDonovan tries to clinch but Meney moves out of range. Meney misses with a wild body shot. Meney misses with the combination.
Meney lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McDonovan circles away quickly and effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McDonovan throws a nice looking combination but Meney bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Meney fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Meney misses with a right hand letting McDonovan counter with a right hand. Meney avoids the head kick by McDonovan.

Nice jab there from McDonovan. Meney circles away from the clinch attempt and Meney cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meney throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. McDonovan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Meney swats him away and circles back towards the center. McDonovan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. McDonovan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Meney.
Meney loads up on a big right hand but McDonovan slips the punch. McDonovan looks to land a combination but Meney avoids it well. McDonovan tries to clinch up. McDonovan tries a head kick but it misses.
Meney throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meney misses with a looping left. Meney lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. A head kick by Meney misses and McDonovan counters with a nice uppercut. Meney throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. McDonovan looks to land a combination but Meney avoids it well. Meney has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Meney jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Meney is really struggling to find his range with his punches. McDonovan's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Meney wants to slow McDonovan down by chopping away at his legs. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Meney scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. McDonovan tries to clinch but Meney moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cheney Meney dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
McDonovan moves in looking to clinch but Meney pushes him off. McDonovan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Meney swats him away and circles back towards the center. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Meney. Meney will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A head kick misses from McDonovan. McDonovan wants to clinch up but Meney keeps it at a distance. McDonovan closes the distance but Meney moves to the side and Meney counters with a straight that turns McDonovan's legs to rubber! Meney pushes forward with more strikes and McDonovan goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
