Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zina Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Ricci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zina Velasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Ricci! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ricci tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Velasquez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Velasquez shoots in and drives through. Ricci sprawls well. Velasquez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ricci is fending him off so far but Velasquez persists. Nope, Ricci circles away and we're back to standing. Ricci looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ricci decides to stand up. Ricci scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ricci tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ricci wants to control but Velasquez is keeping him busy. Ricci working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ricci is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Velasquez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Velasquez is not content to let Ricci control the position. Ricci tries to move to mount but Velasquez blocks the move with his legs. Ricci stands up and we're back to a striking position. Velasquez has his takedown stuffed and Ricci counters with a shoot takedown. Velasquez fights it but they end up in guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zina Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Velasquez is breathing heavily. Ricci stands up and waves to Velasquez to follow him. Velasquez with a poor takedown and Ricci counters with a nice double leg into side control. Velasquez won't be happy with that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ricci tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ricci has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ricci stands up. Velasquez misses with a takedown and Ricci counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Velasquez working a defensive guard here.
Velasquez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Velasquez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ricci is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Velasquez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ricci's back instead. Ricci is really stuck here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez controls the position. Velasquez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Velasquez is looking for the choke from the back position but Ricci is controlling his hands well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ricci breaks Velasquez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ricci wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving. Velasquez keeping full guard, as Ricci tries to pass. Ricci gets to his feet. Velasquez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Ricci closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ricci lands in his opponent's guard.

Velasquez wants to clinch but Ricci slips to the side and Ricci counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Ricci is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ricci works his way into full mount! Ricci can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Velasquez is looking to escape. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ricci cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like Pedro Ricci has been cut. Velasquez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ricci counters with a takedown into side control. Velasquez is looking for a sweep. Ricci decides to stand back up. Ricci fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A combination from Velasquez does no damage. Velasquez gets caught flat footed, as Ricci shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Ricci decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Velasquez, up you get! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ricci fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ricci connects with a high kick. Velasquez with a lazy takedown attempt and Ricci counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Pedro Ricci has got the better of the ground game so far.

Velasquez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Ricci tries to roll over but Velasquez keeps him under control. Ground and pound from Velasquez. Velasquez has other ideas though and has regained full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ricci stands up from guard. Let's bang! This has been an exciting period of action! Velasquez has his takedown stuffed and Ricci counters with a takedown into side control. Ricci wants to control but Velasquez is keeping him busy. Velasquez is refusing to be controlled, as Ricci sits in half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ricci perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Ricci stands up out of the half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pedro Ricci showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Pedro Ricci's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Ricci wants to lay and pray for a moment but Velasquez keeps working. Ricci stands up and we're back to a striking position. Ricci throws a nice outside leg kick. Ricci looks to clinch and Velasquez finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Ricci moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ricci.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ricci scoring with punches from side control. Ricci has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Ricci throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Velasquez is looking to clinch. Velasquez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ricci sprawls well initially but Velasquez persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Ricci is looking to improve his position.
