Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Duval! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Dowal! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duval doesn't manage to clinch there - Dowal circles away.
Dowal closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dowal lands in his opponent's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Dowal slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Dowal wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Duval, who protects the arm well. Dowal tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Duval regains half guard, as Dowal was trying to land strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Duval tries to close the distance and clinch but Dowal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Duval throws a right hand that Dowal ducks under and follows up with a left that Dowal also avoids with ease. Great action here. Duval pushes Dowal away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Dowal gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Duval got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dowal has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duval has managed to get both his arms back between Dowal's legs - danger averted. Dowal working for a triangle but Duval defends it easily.
Duval looking to sit in guard and control but Dowal gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Dowal drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Duval manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dowal has Duval in his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duval wants to control from the top but Dowal keeps moving. Dowal controls Duval momentarily but Duval frees himself. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Duval passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! Steve Dowal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Dowal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
