Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Layne Fields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Hungus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hungus comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Layne Fields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Karl Hungus!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fields throws a head kick but Hungus moves out of range.
Fields with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hungus shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fields but Fields pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Fields with a nice cross.
Fields throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Fields forces Hungus back against the cage and clinches.
Fields connects with a knee to the head.


It looks like Karl Hungus has been cut.
Fields misses with a knee to the head.
Fields leaning against his opponent.
Hungus managing to block the knees to the body from Fields.
Fields controlling the action here for a moment.
Hungus tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fields smiles and moves away.
Hungus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fields tries to avoid it but Hungus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fields to the ground. Fields escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Layne Fields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Karl Hungus.

Hungus shoots in looking for a takedown. Fields tries to sprawl out of it but Hungus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fields manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hungus tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fields swivels and escapes.

Fields rushes Hungus and presses him up against the cage.
Fields landing knees to the head.
Fields throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hungus blocks it with crossed arms.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Hungus tries to pull guard but Fields won't allow it.

Fields content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Hungus tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Fields smiles and moves away.
Fields throws a quick inside leg kick.
Fields stuffs the takedown.

Fields pushes Hungus up against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hungus fails to pull guard.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Fields just misses with a elbow thrown towards Hungus's brow.
Fields missing with knees to the body.
Come on Fields - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Fields tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hungus avoids it.

Fields connects with a knee to the head.
Fields putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Hungus in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Fields is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Fields tries a knee to the head but Hungus blocks it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Fields.

Fields breaks from the clinch.
Hungus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The fighters circling - Fields throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Fields stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fields wants it to stay on the feet.
Hungus swats away the attempt to clinch by Fields.

Hungus looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Fields!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Fields tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hungus gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fields's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hungus under the eye.
Hungus shoots in for a takedown but Fields shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hungus fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hungus throws a series of punches but Fields avoids them all with ease.
Hungus looks gassed!
Hungus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fields is fending him off so far but Hungus persists. Nope, Fields circles away and we're back to standing.
Fields throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hungus drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Fields keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Fields moves into range and connects with a jab.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Fields throws a front kick that sends Hungus stumbling back into the cage.
Layne Fields is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A good leg kick by Fields.
Fields tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hungus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fields tests Hungus's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hungus misses with a takedown attempt - Fields sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hungus throws a right hand that Fields ducks under and follows up with a left that Fields also avoids with ease.
Fields fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fields tries to clinch but Hungus is having none of it.
Fields is looking to slow Hungus down with leg kicks.
Hungus takes one to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fields throws a leg kick which misses Hungus's front leg but catches the back leg as Hungus tries to avoid it.
Fields scoring well with a low kick there.
Fields stuffs the takedown.
Fields tries a head kick but it misses.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Fields misses with a head kick.
Hungus takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


Hungus is rocked!
Hungus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fields as he avoids it easily.
Hungus is still on wobbly legs! Can Fields finish him?

Fields clinches with his opponent.
Fields lands a big knee to the head and Hungus goes down! Fields pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Layne Fields!
