Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Gustavo Ramirez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Charles Darwin! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Phil Schofield and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramirez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Ramirez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Darwin swivels and escapes. Ramirez moves away from the strike by Darwin. Ramirez shoots in and drives through. Darwin sprawls well. Ramirez slips under a jab. Darwin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Ramirez looks for a takedown but Darwin sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gustavo Ramirez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Darwin misses with an uppercut. Darwin throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Darwin swings widly with a right hand
and Ramirez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Darwin is looking for a triangle but Ramirez pushes his legs off easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Darwin wants to sweep here but Ramirez controlling him for the moment. Darwin is looking for a triangle but Ramirez pushes his legs off easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramirez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Darwin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ramirez uses it to pass to side control.
Ramirez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Darwin keeps working. Ramirez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Darwin has escaped the position, nice work there. Ramirez tries to move into full mount but can't pass Darwin's legs. Darwin is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Darwin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Ramirez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Darwin sees it coming and defends easily. Darwin gets back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Darwin has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ramirez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Darwin has tightened it up now! Ramirez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
