PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Pollock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harrison Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnes has chosen The Game-360 Bars as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Pollock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harrison Barnes!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes slips a jab and a cross from Pollock.
Barnes misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Pollock counters with a stiff right hand.
Barnes pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Pollock looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Pollock throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Barnes dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pollock. That did some damage!

Barnes scores a takedown into full mount!
Pollock tries to hold on but Barnes postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes trying to control but Pollock is having none of it.
Pollock working to try and regain half guard.
Pollock is squirming around, avoiding Barnes's attempts to control the action.

Pollock wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Barnes is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pollock is defending well though. Barnes let's go of the attempt for now.
Barnes trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Pollock doesn't escape.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Barnes's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Barnes takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Barnes wants to take a breather but Pollock is having none of it.

Pollock seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Pollock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barnes defends it easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Pollock might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Barnes wants to control from the top but Pollock keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Pollock is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barnes sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Barnes fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pollock has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Pollock makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Harrison Barnes will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pollock fails with a takedown attempt.
Pollock throws a right and a left that both miss.

Pollock shoots in and bounces Barnes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Barnes wants to sweep here but Pollock controlling him for the moment.
Pollock slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Jackson Pollock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pollock is trying to ground and pound but Barnes uses the momentary lack of control by Pollock to regain half guard.
Barnes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pollock's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pollock's back!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pollock throws an elbow that misses. Barnes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pollock's guard. Nice move by Barnes!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barnes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pollock swivels though and keeps the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pollock is on top in guard.
Pollock working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Barnes's head.
Pollock postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Pollock is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barnes is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barnes has escaped and now he's on top!

Barnes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Harrison Barnes wasn't active enough on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pollock throws out a loose jab but Barnes uses good head movement to avoid it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Barnes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson Pollock dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Barnes lands with a nice body punch.
Pollock walks into a straight right hand from Barnes.
Pollock checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Pollock just misses with a punch to the body.

Harrison Barnes seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Barnes keeps Pollock at a distance using the push kick.
Barnes cracks the inside of Pollock's front leg.
Barnes throws a solid leg kick but Pollock takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Barnes.
Pollock attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Pollock on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Barnes. Barnes obviously looking to wear him down.
Pollock ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barnes moves away.
Pollock takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Pollock connects with a good right hand that stumbles Barnes. Barnes circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

A nice inside leg kick there by Barnes. That's going to slow Pollock down.
Barnes bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Barnes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pollock's guard.

Barnes is pushing down on Pollock's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pollock is fighting to maintain full guard but Barnes has managed to sneak the leg through.

Pollock is looking to control Barnes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pollock avoid being mounted?
Pollock is looking for a sweep. Barnes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pollock is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barnes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barnes's back!

Pollock lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Barnes.
Pollock thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Barnes rolls, trying to escape but Pollock keeps control of the position.

Pollock is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Barnes has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Pollock misses with an elbow to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pollock lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Pollock.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jackson Pollock.
I think Pollock has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
