Van Der Merwe lands a jab to the nose.
Fatista closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Fatista thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fatista is trying to get an arm triangle but Van Der Merwe is defending well.
Van Der Merwe gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Fatista is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Van Der Merwe has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Van Der Merwe!
Fatista has his foot on Van Der Merwe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Van Der Merwe works his way back into a safe position though.
